Four iconic instruments—including pianos associated with The Wizard of Oz and A Star Is Born—were lost in the 2025 Los Angeles fires. Through the musicians who knew them, Cosmic Symphony celebrates their lives and imagines an animated send-off into an extraordinary musical future.

Directed by Oscar-nominated composer Laura Karpman and featuring John Clayton, Susie Chung, Starr Parodi, and Diane Warren, the film explores a truth every musician knows: musical instruments have souls.

INSIDE THE EDIT

“Cosmic Symphony is a joyful film about a terrible tragedy. The editorial challenge was to build moments of hope within stories of anguish, allowing the film to hold both.”
